Health Care Policy Press

Dear SNO Members and Friends of the Society,

As public health safety concerns related to COVID-19 continue, the SNO leadership has concluded that the 2020 SNO Annual Meeting scheduled for November in Austin, Texas, cannot occur in person as planned.

Serving as a Chair of the Annual Meeting is a significant undertaking under any circumstances, so this year has been exceptionally complex and demanding.  Co-Chairs Monika Hegi, Michael Lim, Farshad Nassiri and David Schiff, have together spent countless hours with the SNO administrative staff to plan and organize a virtual event that will occur over three days, November 19-21, 2020.  The virtual meeting will feature a range of engaging keynote lectures, invited talks, panel discussions and award-winning abstracts.  Where possible, SNO is employing interactive technology to ensure the highest level of engagement among participants.

Approximately 1000 scientific abstracts were accepted for the meeting, which will be presented in live virtual sessions, as pre-recorded on-demand talks, or as electronic posters with audio.

Education Day Co-Chairs Daniel De Carvalho, Houtan Noushmehr, and Susan Short are finalizing abbreviated sessions on biomarkers, the original topic for the Education Day, that will be broadcast live on Thursday, November 19.  Thursday will also feature a Townhall discussion on the impact of COVID-19 on our field, as well as a roundtable discussion on clinical trials.

The program has been posted and is available on the meeting website.  Registration is now open and we hope you will join us!  Click here  for information and to register.

We wish for your continued health and safety, and look forward to welcoming you to SNO’s 2020 Virtual Conference on November 19-21, 2020!

Sincerely,
Gelareh Zadeh, MD, PhD
SNO President
