The SNO Board of Directors, Chairs of the Women and Diversity Committee and Global Ascent are pleased to share the Society’s new statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The process to develop the statement started last year with a DEI assessment involving a broad range of SNO stakeholders, including a survey and a series of interviews and focus-groups representing a diverse mix of members. The SNO Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion was officially adopted by the SNO leadership in June 2023.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement

The Society for Neuro-Oncology believes that bringing together a diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and identities is integral to advancing multi-disciplinary research, education, and collaboration to drive discovery and improve patient care. We are committed to advancing our diversity, equity, and inclusion practices across events, journals, the member experience, and the larger neuro-oncology community. We aspire to these values for all members:

Transparency: Providing open and clear access to information and opportunities throughout the organization

Diversity: Involving a diverse mix of people—including institutions, geographies, and disciplines—across everything we do

Equity: Providing education and opportunities to promote diverse participation and leadership as well as support research and initiatives to provide care for all in neuro-oncology

Inclusion: Encouraging members to be themselves while being heard and respected to build a culture of belonging—this is your neuro-oncology home
