Neuro-oncology, the study of central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms, is a rapidly evolving subspecialty field of medical science. Professionals from multidisciplinary backgrounds contribute to a better understanding of CNS tumor characteristics and improved patient outcomes. Among these professionals are neuro-oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, neurosurgeons, pathologists, basic scientists, nurses, psychologists, neuropsychologists, geneticists, epidemiologists, and many other professionals who work collaboratively to advance the field. Given the rapid expansion of the field of neuro-oncology over the past few decades, training highly specialized professionals is critical for continual advancement in this subspecialty. This SNO/NCI joint event will provide a venue for undergraduate students, graduate students, medical students, and residents of all disciplines to learn about neuro-oncology careers in basic science and clinical care and research.
The primary organizers of the event are NCI's Center for Cancer Research, Neuro-Oncology Branch (NOB) and the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO).
