73rd Annual Meeting of the German Society of Neurosurgery
73rd Annual Meeting of the German Society of Neurosurgery (DGNC)
Joint Meeting with the Hellenic Neurosurgical Society
29 May–01 June 2022
Dear colleagues, dear friends,
After two years of online meetings, it is my great pleasure, on behalf of my co-congress presidents Veerle Visser-Vandewalle and Makoto Nakamura, to welcome you to the 73rd Annual Meeting of the German Society of Neurosurgery (DGNC), to be held from 29th May to 1st June 2022, in Cologne - in person! As a society, we succeeded in continuing our activities in both pandemic years by virtual means thanks to the support of Conventus. However, the strong wish expressed by many, to meet colleagues in person, to exchange ideas and experiences and enjoy the social interaction, could not be neglected anymore. We are very happy to fulfill this desire! The Cologne Messe will be the location for the meeting providing more than satisfying resources for our sessions. The city of Cologne will be offering a wonderful surrounding for all our social activities, and we truly hope that you will enjoy the very relaxed and open atmosphere of this wonderful Rhine Capital!
Regarding the scientific content of the annual meeting, we will focus on the paradigm shift in neurosurgery, which affects all subdisciplines of our field. At the interfaces of neurosurgery with neighbouring disciplines, a continuous development and change of interaction is taking place. It is important that we, as a society of neurosurgeons, have an impact on this evolution in order to position our discipline in the most constructive way. Since this is a general challenge, we refrained from defining sub-themes for our meeting. In our opinion, our highly specialized profession has all assets to meet the requirements of personalisation and precision medicine throughout the entire field.
The annual meeting in Cologne will be a joint meeting together with the Hellenic Neurosurgical Society, with which we already have a close and pleasant cooperation. We are truly looking forward to welcoming many of our Hellenic colleagues at our joint meeting.
We wish to sincerely thank Conventus as professional congress organiser as well as our local organisation committee who already now are working hard to prepare for you a memorable DGNC annual meeting.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all in Cologne next spring!
